Jack Sinclair Letterpress Studio
Jack Sinclair Letterpress Studio
Intro
The late Jack Sinclair donated the entirety of his letterpress collection to the University of Arizona. In an instant the University’s letterpress studio became one of the largest collections in the country and we were tasked with creating a brand identity for the studio and event collateral to celebrate the occasion.
Scope
01
Brand Identity
The identity pays homage to the rich history of letterpress printing. By leveraging the studio’s physical lead type collection to create the mark, we constructed an appropriate, authentic, and timeless logo that serves as the heart of the identity.
Print Collateral
The University held a grand opening celebration to commemorate the newly opened studio. We designed an invitation for the event and a host of giveaways including coasters, bookmarks, and an art print. Creating printed collateral for a letterpress studio necessitated that every component utilize letterpress printing (which we enthusiastically accepted), resulting in pieces that truly showcase the immediate and lasting impact letterpress can achieve.

Sustainability
In order to minimize paper waste, we devised a unique format for the invitation and designed bookmarks that made use of excess trim. You can read more about the process in our detailed article below.
