There are a number of 100% PCW pressure-sensitive adhesive labels on the market, but most come with unrecyclable, silicone coated release liners. We discovered Green Bay Packaging makes labels with release liners that can be recycled with corrugated cardboard.

Type designer Erik Spiekermann has said that designing for the screen is just designing for bad paper. We’d argue it’s more like magic paper, but the point is that good designers have always embraced the limitations caused by tricky substrates—oftentimes even leading to innovation. Our respect for the classic principles of print design has merged with our love for the endless possibilities of technology to form the foundations of our approach to interactive design and development.

As part of our mission to generate a positive impact on the graphic design community, we always welcome the opportunity to share what we do and what we’ve learned with other designers. Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona recently provided us with an opportunity to present a lecture to students, and to instruct a design workshop.

We have been working towards the launch of this website for over 9 months, photographing our entire portfolio of work spanning the past four years (in total we shot over 5,000 photographs). We’ve kept only 3 projects from our original portfolio and added 13 new ones, so there should be plenty of new stuff to browse if you’ve ever visited our old site.

To the average person, paper may seem like a fairly simple material. It is flat, comes in different colors, sizes, thicknesses, and is sometimes glossy. But paper is a surprisingly complex subject, and when a paper’s environmental footprint enters the equation, the complexity increases exponentially.
